STAR three-year-old Weekend Hussler was named Champion Racehorse of the Year at the Hunter Thoroughbred Breeders Awards in Scone last night.

Rated the equal-best miler in the world alongside Hong Kong's Good Ba Ba, Weekend Hussler was also crowned champion three-year-old.

The Kris Lees-trained Samantha Miss won the award for champion two-year-old on the strength of her narrow victory over Golden Slipper winner Sebring in the group 1 Champagne Stakes.

Coolmore's Encosta De Lago was recognised as champion sire and Surrealist champion broodmare. AAP
